Something Good Finally Results from “Twilight”

The Twilight book/movie/sexually-frustrated-women series is the most awful thing to ever happen ever.

Ever.

But a friend of mine has gathered some friends together to actually make something good happen from the TwiliMania (trademark pending) that is sweeping the world.

Below is the message I received, with all incriminating information removed and grammatical mistakes fixed:

There is a close community of women and four guys (yes, Twilight fans) working together to raise money for cancer research. It is called “The Fandom Gives Back” and so far we (as a group) have raised over $19,000. Please see if you can help get the word out.

There are ongoing auctions, from signed TW gear to a weekend getaway. There is also a PDF version of a cookbook people can “buy.” Everything is “bought” by donating to the charity. (The site has all the details.) There you can find how to get a hold of the people organizing the madness. Any little bit helps and it is for the kids.

So go ahead and visit Twilight Fandom Gives Back, and if you have extra money just sitting around (and you don’t want to give it to me) and don’t have a nauseating feeling every time you think about the Twilight series, go ahead and make a donation. Everybody loves kids, right?

How can we be sure this charity is legit and isn’t sending money to the Caymans so that they can buy tickets to the next Twilight premiere? And why don’t they just set up a 5K run instead of freaking everyone out with their weird obsession?

  2. Scott says:

I guess we can’t be sure; but my friend who is a part of this is actually OUR friend Melissa Arizola.

And I’m not sure she has the wherewithall to organize a 5k run OR a secret account for the Caymans.

  3. Miles says:

one undeniable fact about twilight: my 20 year old sister said it was the first book she ever read cover to cover. so as much as I wish it never existed, it got her to read

  4. EyeNotDaBossOU ...yet? says:

Do you plan on registering “TwiliManiaks” as a trademark as well (perhaps for their Fan[addict] Club ; ) ? …and would their related websites then be thereby nicknamed “Twilight Zones”? And would Rod Serling (who’d likely be turning over in his grave) receive any royalties? <–{Things that make you go "bluhh!"]
